Catalyzing scientific impact through global partnerships and open resources

Google Research said open-source software and open-access datasets are “drivers of modern science,” framing open science as a way to let others “replicate and expand upon findings.” The company said it aims to create these resources responsibly and maintain them through partnerships with the global scientific community.

The statement pointed to the Transformer architecture as one example of Google Research work that “reshaped automated language processing.” It also cited specialized models used in medicine, genomics, neuroscience, climate, energy, and other efforts across the physical, life, and social sciences.

Google Research said researchers around the globe are using these shared tools to make their own discoveries. It added that this open approach sits alongside broader efforts across Google to support the research and science ecosystem through APIs, publications, conferences, trusted tester programs and private partnerships.
