WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem State University is excited to celebrate National Girls & Women’s Sports Day during a special basketball doubleheader on February 5. The event will take place at the C.E. Gaines Center, where the women’s team will play Bluefield State at 5:30 p.m.
Halftime of the women’s game will feature a celebration of female empowerment in sports. Community groups made up of young girls will be honored during a parade. All the female student-athlete teams will create a tunnel for these groups to walk through, making it a memorable moment as they stop for a group selfie at the end.
Each young participant will receive a t-shirt, provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield, and have the chance to meet the talented female student-athletes of WSSU.
To take part, organizations need to register. Girls under 13 can attend for free, but parents and family members will need to purchase tickets.
