Celebrating 25 Years of Taste of Atlanta: Meet the Chefs Who Shaped the City’s Culinary Landscape

Atlanta’s favorite food festival, Taste of Atlanta, is celebrating its 25th anniversary on April 16. This milestone party will take place at The Works in Underwood Hills from 6 to 10 p.m. and will honor the chefs, restaurateurs, and food lovers who shaped the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

Founded by Dale DeSena in 2001, Taste of Atlanta has become a staple in the city’s food culture. When it started, Atlanta’s culinary identity was still growing. This festival was key in showcasing chefs who have since defined what dining in Atlanta means.

To celebrate this rich history, the event will feature a “Culinary Icons Reunion.” Chefs from many renowned Atlanta restaurants will gather to share their creations. Expect tasty bites from places like Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, El Super Pan, and Morelli’s Ice Cream. Alongside the delicious food, attendees can enjoy live music from Bogey and the Viceroy, as well as a DJ and a special performance from the Seed and Feed Marching Abominables.

Those with tickets can also join an after-party at Your 3rd Spot from 9 p.m. onward. This adds a festive touch, making it a night to remember.

Looking ahead, the festival isn’t just a one-night event. Throughout 2026, there will be a social media series highlighting past dishes, recipes, and cherished moments from earlier festivals, creating a sense of nostalgia. The festival plans to host three additional events later this year, including Food That Rocks in Sandy Springs and Grand Tastings in Alpharetta and Midtown, tailor-made to highlight local dining scenes.

Recent trends show that food festivals are gaining popularity, especially after the pandemic. A survey conducted by Eventbrite found that 67% of adults in the U.S. enjoy attending food-related events. This spike reveals how much people value food experiences and community gatherings.
