The Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards (FLIA) took place at the 2025 Fruit Logistica event. Visitors from the fresh produce industry voted for the most exciting new products of the year. This time, the FLIA winner was the Onix orange, brought to us by AmFresh. It stands out for its beauty, versatility, and resilience. The FLIA for Technology was awarded to Fermata for their Croptimus tool, which helps in spotting diseases and pests in greenhouses through advanced image analysis.
Trade visitors eagerly awaited the results. Five nominated companies showcased their innovations, which were then voted on by the attendees. The winning products are groundbreaking and set new benchmarks in the fruit and vegetable sector.
Onix Orange Takes Home the Award
Attendees had two days to cast their votes, and the Onix orange emerged as the clear favorite. Its vibrant colors range from bright orange to deep burgundy, complemented by juicy, flavorful flesh. Notably high in antioxidants and vitamins, this fruit is grown in Spain and also boasts an impressive shelf life. It’s marketed as a “sustainable citrus wonder” by AmFresh Spain Citrus, targeting premium consumers.
Patricia Sagarminaga, Global Director of Marketing and Communications at Amfresh Group, expressed her excitement: “This is fantastic! We are thrilled to share this incredible fruit from sunny Spain with the world. Winning this award is a huge recognition for everyone involved in its journey.”
Croptimus Wins the Technology Award
Over half of the votes in the technology category went to Croptimus™ by Fermata Technology. This innovative tool allows farmers to detect diseases or pest problems early, using image analysis. As a software service, Croptimus doesn’t need additional hardware, working seamlessly with existing cameras or even smartphone images. The company claims it can reduce scouting time by 50%, crop loss by 30%, and input use by 25%, making it an efficient and sustainable option for agriculture.
Valeria Kogan, the Founder and CEO of Fermata, shared her enthusiasm: “I feel amazing. This is my first Fruit Logistica, and I’m truly impressed. Being recognized here is a privilege.”
