Columbia University Responds to Trump Administration: Mask Ban and New Safety Measures Unveiled

Columbia University is making some significant changes. They’ve introduced a mask ban, hired special officers, and implemented new policies. These moves come in response to demands from the government regarding antisemitism on campus.

Recently, the Trump administration set a deadline for Columbia to comply with their requests before discussing the reinstatement of $400 million in federal funding, which was withdrawn due to alleged failures in protecting students from antisemitism. Student Yousif Elhaj said it shouldn’t be the government’s role to enforce these changes. Others, like Landon Pottebaum, feel it tarnishes Columbia’s reputation for standing firm in its values against federal pressure.
