Converse University Offers Support for Students Affected by Limestone Closure
Converse University has stepped up to help students impacted by the recent closure of Limestone University. They announced two new scholarships: the Saints Scholarship and the Knights Scholarship. Each scholarship can provide up to $22,000 per year to eligible students who transfer from Limestone University or St. Andrews University.
Jamie Grant-Ponce, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, highlighted their commitment to making the transition easier. "We want to support students and their families with a simple application process and personalized guidance for transfer credits," she said.
In addition to scholarships, Converse will offer housing exemptions for those from Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties living with parents or guardians. This initiative also supports students with binding lease agreements, ensuring they have a place to stay while continuing their education.
To keep students on track for graduation, the university has committed to helping them navigate their academic paths. This reflects a growing trend in higher education where institutions prioritize student success during transitions, especially after unexpected closures.
Furthermore, Converse is aiding former Limestone employees in finding new job opportunities. Matt Cash, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, emphasized their dedication, stating, "We are here to listen and connect them with new opportunities."
Statistics from recent surveys reveal that students transitioning between colleges often face significant challenges, but support programs like these can greatly ease the process. With counseling and financial aid, universities play a crucial role in helping students adapt to new environments.
