Trace Cyrus recently shared his concerns for his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, on social media, urging him to seek help. Just days later, Trace revealed that his father is “taking legal action” against him.
Trace’s emotional message came after Billy Ray performed at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Many fans were worried about him, noting that the performance didn’t go well. Trace expressed his sadness, saying he barely recognizes the man he looked up to and fears for his father’s well-being.
In his heartfelt post, Trace wrote, “With tears in my eyes, I hope you realize this message comes from a place of love.” However, it seems Billy Ray didn’t take the message the way Trace intended.
Trace responded to his father’s reaction, saying, “My message was beyond loving. For you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace. I will always love you, but I no longer respect you as a man.” He urged his father to get the help he needs.
On Instagram, Trace mentioned that he hasn’t heard directly from Billy Ray. Instead, he learned through a family member about the legal action. Trace expressed disappointment, saying his father could have reached out personally. “You could’ve just come & talked to me like a man,” he wrote.
Billy Ray’s performance at the inauguration faced several technical issues. At one point, he couldn’t even get his guitar to work, leading to some awkward moments on stage. He seemed to struggle with the equipment and appeared to be lip-syncing during parts of the show, which didn’t sit well with some viewers. One commenter even joked that “Trump needs to pardon Billy Ray Cyrus for that performance because it was a crime.”
After the event, Billy Ray addressed the situation on Instagram, stating that he enjoyed the experience despite the technical difficulties. “I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me. I had a ball at the Liberty Ball and learned that when the producer says ‘you’re on,’ you go entertain the folks, equipment or not,” he said.
