Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS) is making waves with a new partnership. They’ve teamed up with Speak, an AI-driven English education app. This collaboration aims to enhance learning for students in the English department, including those on leave and alumni.
The deal offers valuable discounts on Speak’s subscription plan for eligible CUFS students and alumni. This promotion runs until May 31 next year. “This partnership is a fantastic chance for students to break down mental barriers and gain confidence in their English speaking skills,” said Prof. Lee Jong-bong, head of the English department.
Founded in San Francisco, Speak first entered the Korean market in 2019. It quickly became popular, even earning a spot as Google Play’s top choice for language practice. The app uses AI tutors to help users practice conversational English, providing personalized feedback. As of November 2024, around 240,000 people in Korea actively use the app each month, showcasing its strong presence in the market.
CUFS is also gearing up for its admissions for the next academic year, allowing applications from Monday to July 16. There are ten departments to choose from, including English, Chinese, Japanese, and business administration. Foreign nationals can also apply as long as they have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
This partnership signifies a trend where universities are increasingly partnering with tech platforms to enhance education. Many schools are recognizing the importance of blending technology with traditional learning to cater to modern students’ needs.
As educational technology evolves, partnerships like this may become the norm, reflecting a shift towards more accessible and effective learning methods in a digital age.
