Daijima Shines as Men’s Tennis Star at Augustana Invite Season Opener – Creighton University Athletics

Senior Yuma Daijima shone at the Augustana Invite, winning the Flight A Singles championship. He kicked off his season with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating North Dakota’s Leo Galliano in a tight match that ended 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

Daijima didn’t stop there; he partnered with freshman Jasper Camehn to secure the Flight B Doubles Consolation title. They won against Augustana’s duo, Clayton Poppenga and Sebastian Garcia, with a score of 8-4, and followed that victory by beating Deuce Daniel and Luke Fridinger from Augustana, finishing 8-5.

Camehn also made waves by winning the Flight A consolation round against Augustana’s Jose Antonio Velasco, with a score of 8-4. Another freshman, Mathis Dahler, contributed with an 8-5 victory over Lukas Mandelik in the Flight B consolation finals.

The Creighton Bluejays will next hit the courts on October 4th and 5th for the Omaha Invite at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
