Diontae Johnson Waived by Texans After Just Two Games: What It Means for His Career

Diontae Johnson’s stint with the Houston Texans has come to an end. The wide receiver was waived on Tuesday after a brief time on the team.

This was Johnson’s third team this season. He started with the Carolina Panthers, was traded to the Baltimore Ravens on October 29, and then joined the Texans when tank Dell was injured. Johnson played just one regular season game and one playoff game with Houston, totaling three receptions for 24 yards.

In Baltimore, Johnson was brought in to strengthen the receiving corps but faced challenges. He was suspended for one game after refusing to enter the field against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, which led to him not playing for the Ravens again. After clearing waivers on December 20, he found a new spot with the Texans.

During his time with Houston, he played 16 snaps in their wild-card win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Texans are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round on Saturday.

At 28 years old, Johnson is now in the final year of his contract. Once he clears waivers, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent, opening the door for new opportunities in the future.
