BMW has unveiled an eye-catching prototype designed to test its latest technologies.
Named the Vision Driving Experience, this vehicle won’t hit the market. Instead, it serves as a ‘rolling test rig’ for new features that will be featured in BMW’s upcoming ‘Neue Klasse’ lineup.
At the heart of this prototype is BMW’s ‘Heart of Joy’ system. This central computer oversees all aspects of the car’s performance, ensuring that classic BMW driving skills are preserved in an electric format.
Frank Weber, a board member at BMW, explained, “The Heart of Joy allows us to elevate driving enjoyment to new heights.”
He also noted that this system boosts efficiency. Future drivers will primarily use energy recovery when braking, making the most of every journey. This innovation represents a significant leap in Efficient Dynamics.
While specific performance figures for the Vision Driving Experience haven’t been shared, it boasts an impressive 18,000Nm of torque. BMW believes this level of torque will allow the vehicle to meet everyday driving demands with ease.
The prototype also features energy recovery systems that enhance efficiency. Thanks to regenerative braking and other optimizations, it achieves a 25% boost in efficiency compared to standard electric vehicles.
The first vehicle from the Neue Klasse range, likely an SUV, is set for full production later this year.
