Discover Enhanced Audiology and ENT Services at Mercy Health: Expanding Care for Your Hearing and Wellness

Mercy Health is boosting its services by adding audiology to its ear, nose, and throat (ENT) program. This means patients can now get hearing and balance evaluations all in one place, making their healthcare experience smoother.

Tyson Tingle, Mercy Health’s operations vice president, stated, “Lorain County deserves high-quality care. Adding services where they’re needed shows our commitment to local families.”

Dr. Jennifer Kassay, an audiologist, is now part of the team. She focuses on diagnosing and managing hearing loss and emphasizes patient education. “Hearing is essential for communication and overall well-being,” she says. If hearing loss goes untreated, it can lead to serious issues like language delays in children and social isolation or cognitive decline in older adults. Early detection makes a big difference, helping people stay connected to their surroundings.

Kassay joins Dr. Kate Clancy, who leads the ENT program. Two new ENT physicians, Dr. Kiefer Hock and Dr. Sean McDermott, have also joined the team. Hock is board certified in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. McDermott completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and earned his degree from Ohio State University.

The importance of hearing health is backed by recent statistics: about 48 million Americans experience hearing loss, with many unaware of it. Audiology services at Mercy Health aim to address this issue. Patients can receive both audiology and ENT care in one location, which helps streamline treatment and ensure timely care.

In the coming months, Mercy Health will extend its audiology services to the Oberlin medical office, enhancing its capability with new equipment and facilities.
