Young chefs in grades 5–12 across Hawaiʻi can showcase their cooking skills in the 4-H “Grow Eat Think (GET) Local” Video Cooking Contest. This exciting competition is about learning nutrition, food safety, and kitchen skills while creatively presenting healthy meals.
Winners will embark on a unique adventure on Oʻahu, gaining valuable insights directly from culinary and agricultural professionals. Participants need to create a 5- to 7-minute video, preparing a healthy dish that includes at least one locally sourced ingredient.
Judy Scoville-Layfield, an Educational Specialist with Hawaiʻi 4-H, expressed her excitement for this contest. “It’s a fun way to promote healthy eating, support local agriculture, and help young people develop essential life skills,” she said.
This initiative is open to all young chefs, and you don’t need to be a 4-H member to participate!
