Discover Karnataka’s New Climate Change Mitigation Foundation: Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government is taking a bold step to tackle climate change. They have launched the Karnataka Forest, Wildlife and Climate Change Mitigation Foundation (KFWCCMF). This initiative aims to reduce climate change impacts and boost the state’s green cover.

In the 2025 budget, the government emphasized the importance of conserving the environment and forests. A key goal is to decrease conflicts between humans and wildlife. They also talked about generating carbon credits through agro-forestry and afforestation.

During his budget speech, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah mentioned that the KFWCCMF will include members from various corporate bodies. This collaboration aims to promote environmental projects through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and donations.

He also announced the rollout of the Karnataka State Integrated Climate Change Action Plan this year. This plan is designed to tackle climate risks and support sustainable development.

Additionally, the state is committed to improving the economic conditions of farmers with agro-forestry and a carbon credit policy. As part of this effort, high carbon-retaining plant species will be promoted through forestry initiatives. The government’s focus remains on increasing green cover across Karnataka.
