Discover Sigma’s BF: The Innovative Minimalist Full-Frame Camera Without a Memory Card Slot!

The Sigma BF will come in black or silver for $1,999, with an expected shipping date in April 2025. Note, the price doesn’t include a lens. This camera works with the L-Mount lens standard. Originally designed by Leica, it is now also used by Panasonic and Sigma. Sigma plans to expand its I Series lens collection by adding a new silver option to complement the BF.

The BF’s simple design is clear on the back. It features a 3.2-inch touchscreen that doesn’t flip out. Below it are three touch controls that offer haptic feedback, mimicking the feel of actual buttons. Above these controls is a dial for menu navigation and an extra haptic button in the center, along with a small monitor to show shooting settings without crowding the main display. The shutter button sits on top, right next to small microphone holes.

The BF offers a clean user interface, keeping the live preview surrounded by essential shooting settings like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation. You can access additional settings through an optional menu, while other management functions are tucked away in a system menu.

Like many modern cameras, the Sigma BF includes 13 color modes. This feature lets photographers create a desired look right in the camera. Options range from standard and rich to more creative choices like forest green, sunset red, warm gold, cinema, and monochrome.

The Sigma BF doesn’t have a memory card slot. Instead, it features a USB-C port for charging and transferring files. Inside, it houses a 230GB SSD, which can store around 14,000 JPEGs or 4,300 uncompressed RAW files. It can capture 6K video at up to 29.97 frames per second, allowing for about 2.5 hours of footage at the highest quality.

When shooting in full resolution, the Sigma BF can take images at up to eight frames per second. It uses a hybrid autofocus system that combines phase and contrast detection. This advanced AF system employs cutting-edge algorithms to accurately detect and focus on subjects like people, dogs, and cats.
