Discover the 12 Partner Institutions of Florida State University’s Tyler Center for Global Studies

The Tyler Center for Global Studies at Florida State University has announced 12 partner institutions. These schools will create a network to connect undergraduate students with international research opportunities.

Founded in 2022 by William H. Tyler III, the center’s mission is to inspire students to explore global research. Since its inception, it has provided funding to 49 students across the U.S. for their international research projects.

“The challenges facing our world are increasingly global. Understanding these issues is vital for finding solutions,” said Tyler, who passed away in 2024.

Joe O’Shea, an associate provost at FSU, stated, “We are proud to lead the Tyler Center Network, collaborating with institutions that value global education.”

This year, the Tyler Center will grant $222,000 to schools including Austin Community College, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of California-San Diego, among others.

FSU manages the Tyler Center Grant Program. Institutions can apply for grants, allowing their students to become Tyler Fellows. These fellows receive funding to conduct research abroad, enhancing their educational experience.

Latika Young, Executive Director of the Tyler Center, expressed excitement about the program’s expansion. “The network now includes institutions from coast to coast,” she said. “We’re excited to help shape the next generation of global scholars.”

Since 2022, Tyler Fellows have undertaken projects in 22 countries, covering diverse fields from STEM to the arts. The upcoming cohort will share their findings at the Tyler Center Virtual Summit in fall 2025, showcasing their contributions to global knowledge.
