Discover the Exciting New Food Truck Court Opening in Columbus: A Taste of Culinary Delights!

COLUMBUS, Miss. – A woman with a vision has turned a vacant lot into a thriving food court.

Jill Lehrkamp, the owner, opened the Columbus Food Court and Market in a spot that used to be Carts and Clubs. Her idea sparked during the challenges of COVID, and last month, it became a reality.

“People really need to get out, enjoy the sun, and spend time together. Columbus didn’t have many places for that,” Jill said. Her food court quickly attracted a crowd. All the food vendors sold out in just three hours, a first for many of them.

Danielle Kidd from Big Daddy’s Snack Machine was thrilled by the response. “We usually serve at the Columbus Air Force Base, but people wanted us in the city,” she shared. Menus include rice bowls, walking tacos, and loaded French fries. They serve a variety of tasty options to cater to different tastes.

Right now, three food trucks rotate through the area, but Jill dreams of expanding to four or five. She’s also planning to host a market on weekends where local farmers can sell fresh produce and baked goods. “I can’t wait to see what we can build together,” she added.

Community events like this are becoming more popular. According to a recent survey, 60% of Americans feel local markets improve their community’s sense of belonging. Jill’s food court exemplifies this growing trend, bringing people together over delicious food and great company.
