Discover the Indigenous Food Truck from Ashland Set to Shine at the 2025 NFL Draft!

ASHLAND, Wis. – The 2025 NFL Draft is set to take place in Green Bay, and it’s more than just a sporting event; it’s a celebration of Wisconsin’s vibrant culture. Among the standout features will be the Frybread Shack from Ashland, one of only four food trucks selected to participate in this grand occasion.

Ezra Leoso, the owner of the Frybread Shack, expressed his excitement when he received the good news. “When I told my team we got the spot, they couldn’t believe it,” he shared. Competing against hundreds of other food trucks, Frybread Shack stood out by showcasing authentic Wisconsin culture.

While many people think of Wisconsin as just cheese and beer, it has a rich tapestry of cultural influences. For the Frybread Shack, this means honoring Indigenous traditions through food. “We take frybread to a new level,” Leoso explained. Their menu boasts unique creations such as frybread tacos, frybread burgers, and sweet frybread bites.

Leoso’s family recipe holds a special place in their history. “It started with my grandma and has evolved over time,” his mother remarked, emphasizing how tradition and innovation come together in their dishes. Though she wouldn’t share the secret recipe, she highlighted the importance of community in their success.

There’s a growing trend in food culture where local recipes that celebrate heritage gain popularity. According to a recent survey by the National Restaurant Association, more diners are seeking authentic experiences from local cuisines. Frybread Shack is tapping into this trend by bringing a taste of Native American culture to the NFL’s spotlight.

As the countdown to the draft begins, Leoso reflects on how far they’ve come. “We started as a small pop-up, and now we’re here representing Ashland County,” he said. Their journey is not just about food; it’s about community, resilience, and pride.

As Leoso put it, “Frybread Shack is now on the clock.” The excitement is palpable, and they are ready to share a piece of their culture with the world.
