Davis’s success isn’t just his own; he has a strong support system behind him. His father, Todd Thompson, played a significant role in his golf journey. Todd was a member and captain of the Georgia Men’s golf team from 1985 to 1988. Now, he runs the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and directs the RSM Classic, a well-known PGA Tour event. He always encouraged Davis but knew it was essential for him to carve his own path.

In a heartfelt 2021 interview, Todd expressed his pride when Davis chose to attend the University of Georgia. He wanted his son to develop relationships and skills there. Todd’s excitement was clear, saying, “I remember when he told me he was going to Georgia. I was very excited. I wanted him to go somewhere where he’d be able to develop relationships and get better.” And develop he did! Davis earned the SEC Player of the Year title and was named to the First Team by the league’s coaches.

In addition to his dad’s influence, it’s clear that Davis has a loving family. He often shares his appreciation for his mother, Leigh, on social media. For Mother’s Day, he posted a sweet tribute saying, “Thank you for putting up with me and always keeping the pantry loaded. You the real MVP.” He also has a sister, Frannie, who got married a couple of years before Davis tied the knot with Holly Grace Robinson in 2023.

Looking back, Davis’s journey has been nothing short of impressive. He starred on the Lee Scott Academy golf team and helped them capture six straight state championships from 2012 to 2017. He also secured individual state titles in 2013 and 2015. At the University of Georgia, he became a standout player, earning All-American First Team honors and leading his team to significant accomplishments.

He turned professional in 2021 and quickly made his mark. Davis clinched the 2022 Rex Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour, earning his PGA Tour card by finishing 16th on the Money List.

As for his current season, he started with The Sentry and has shown some ups and downs, including a disappointing cutoff at the Arnold Palmer Invitational but bouncing back with a solid T13 finish at The Genesis Invitational and a T10 at The PLAYERS Championship, often called the “fifth major.”
