Lindsborg Museum Hosts “Flour Power” Presentation
On April 25, 2026, the Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum in Kansas is hosting a free event called “Flour Power.” This interactive presentation features Gene Chávez, who will share his family’s tortilla-making recipe and stories about the Mexican community in Kansas. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. at 120 E. Mill St.
This presentation is part of “Kansas Folklife: Celebrating Kansas Traditions,” organized by Humanities Kansas. The aim is to highlight cultural traditions as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. Following this event, the museum will participate in Millfest, where guided tours will showcase the historic 1898 Smoky Valley Roller Mills in action.
Gene Chávez, an advocate for Mexican American heritage, offers a fresh perspective on cultural food traditions. He blends personal stories with research, enriching the audience’s understanding of the Mexican community’s contributions to Kansas.
