Next month, Samsung will unveil three exciting new smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. All of these models will feature the trendy squircle design that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy Watch Ultra last year.
We got a sneak peek of these watches during a recent APK teardown, so the details aren’t completely new. Plus, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic was spotted on eBay, looking just as expected.
When you compare the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, you’ll notice some similarities. However, the Classic has a thicker bezel and adds notches for the rotating bezel, a feature that many users love. The Watch 8 Classic will also include a Quick button that made its debut on the Ultra.
Notably, the latest CADs from OnLeaks confirm that the rendered design aligns closely with what we expect.
The big change for the Galaxy Watch 8 is its new squircle design. While this change is less noticeable on the base model compared to the Classic and Ultra, it marks a shift towards more modern aesthetics. Like previous models, we anticipate two sizes: likely 40mm and 44mm, just like the Galaxy Watch 7.
Last year, Samsung’s focus on this new design was about enhancing durability, especially for outdoor enthusiasts. It will be interesting to see how they position the Galaxy Watch 8, as it isn’t targeted mainly at rugged use.
As for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025, the design remains familiar with only a few color updates. This year, a striking blue colorway will stand out, indicating a push towards blue as a signature color, seen recently in the Galaxy S25 series.
Now, regarding the release date: Samsung is expected to have an Unpacked event next month. Historically, these events take place in early July, so we can anticipate a timeline similar to last year. Typically, devices launch about a week to two weeks after the event, with pre-orders starting the same day. While the exact release date can vary, it usually falls within 14 days of the announcement.
In recent years, Samsung has been known for its rapid innovation in smart technology. According to a recent survey by Statista, in 2022, the global smartwatch market reached over 100 million units sold, showing an increase of about 10% from the previous year. This growing trend suggests that people are increasingly interested in health tracking and smart connectivity features that these new models will surely enhance.
So, whether you’re a fitness fanatic or just love the latest tech, Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches look promising for 2025.
