Discover the Top 2025 Menu Trends: Unilever Food Solutions Spotlights the Growing Popularity of Asian Flavors in the Global Food Service Landscape

In March 2025, Unilever Food Solutions (UFS) shared exciting insights from their latest report, Future Menus. This year, food lovers will notice a big shift toward Asian flavors. Chinese and Japanese cuisines have jumped into the top five favorite global foods, along with a rising interest in Korean and Mexican dishes.

Here’s a look at four key trends shaping the culinary world today:

Street Food Couture – Street food is becoming gourmet! Chefs are taking traditional street food and turning it into high-end offerings. Many in Generation Z are leading this change — 65% want value for money when dining out. Mexican, Indian, and Filipino street foods, in particular, are gaining popularity. Filipino food, especially, is making waves across the U.S. and Asia.

Borderless Cuisine – As globalization grows, so does the fusion of diverse food traditions. Travelers today want authentic experiences. In fact, 76% of tourists seek out local food culture. Chefs are blending Eastern flavors with Western classics. For instance, adding Southeast Asian spices to familiar dishes like pasta or burgers creates something fresh and exciting.

Culinary Roots – Chefs are revisiting their roots, rediscovering forgotten recipes and local cuisines. Heritage dishes from regions like Hunan or Oaxacan food are becoming more prominent. UFS supports this movement with its team of 250 in-house chefs, who help chefs embrace and promote these indigenous culinary gems.

Diner Designed – People now crave personalized dining experiences. About 47% of diners prefer spending on experiences rather than things. UFS helps food service businesses with training and menu engineering to meet these changing preferences.

Star Chen, CEO of UFS, emphasizes how the Future Menus report aids chefs in adapting to these trends. “It helps us serve over 3 million customers with insights and recipes that cater to the growing interest in Asian and South American flavors.” She noted that 70% of their customers would recommend UFS to others, showcasing their impact in the industry.

This year’s trends are not just insights; they’re a roadmap for chefs to innovate and meet evolving diner preferences. By tapping into these trends, chefs can enhance their offerings and keep customers coming back.

The Future Menus report is part of UFS’s ongoing efforts to tailor restaurant experiences, showing that culinary trends can significantly influence how we eat and where we dine.
