Discover Wellness at Eskenazi Health’s 2nd Annual Community Day Health Fair: Join Us for Free Services, Resources, and Fun!

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Despite the heat and possible storm, the east side of Indianapolis kicked off the weekend with health and fun.

This Saturday, WISH-TV partnered with others to host a Community Day Health Fair at the new Eskenazi Health Thomas and Arlene Grande Campus. Open for just over a year, this facility is a crucial spot for those needing various health services.

Parents took advantage of free vaccinations for their kids. There were also free book bags, games, a bounce house, and tasty food. Attendees learned about mental health resources, strengthening community connections.

Antonia Wilson, the clinical manager at Eskenazi Health, shared her appreciation for the outreach. “Patients no longer face transportation issues to access essential services,” Wilson said, highlighting the positive impact on the neighborhood.

Emily Littleton, a case manager in social work, emphasized the importance of mental health. “We have many resources available at marionhealth.org. It helps individuals gauge their mental health and provides guidance,” she explained, urging everyone to explore online options if they couldn’t attend the fair.

Recent data from the National Association of Community Health Centers reveals that 1 in 10 Americans relies on community health centers. These facilities play a vital role in improving health access and awareness.

In today’s world, prioritizing health and wellness is crucial. Events like this fair not only provide immediate services but also educate the community about available resources, fostering a healthier future. By gathering together, people strengthen their bonds and support system, essential for a thriving community.
