Rosie O’Donnell has made a significant change in her life this year. The actress and comedian recently shared on TikTok that she moved to Ireland with her 12-year-old child, Clay. In her video, she admitted, “I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, but it felt right for us.”
O’Donnell moved on January 15 and is currently working towards getting Irish citizenship, thanks to her grandparents’ heritage. She shared her excitement, saying, “It’s been pretty wonderful. The people here are loving and kind.”
Although she enjoys her new surroundings, O’Donnell misses her other kids and friends back home. She expressed a desire to find a sense of home in Ireland, saying, “I’m trying to settle in this beautiful country.” She also mentioned that the current political climate in the U.S. influences her thoughts about returning, stating, “We will consider coming back when everyone in America has equal rights.”
O’Donnell has been vocal about her feelings regarding the political situation. “It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening,” she explained, emphasizing the connection between personal experiences and the political landscape.
She opened up about her decision to share her relocation news now, saying, “We had to make tough choices to prioritize our well-being.” As she settles in, she feels ready to share her journey.
O’Donnell is not alone in her move. Other celebrities like Eva Longoria, Ellen DeGeneres, and Richard Gere have also made the choice to live abroad in recent times.
