However, in Game 5, Jokic flipped the script. He started strong, energizing his teammates like Cam Johnson and Spencer Jones. With a stunning triple-double—27 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 assists—Jokic led the Nuggets to a commanding 125-113 win. This victory was crucial for Denver as it kept them in the series.
Now, the Timberwolves still lead 3-2, but they face challenges ahead. Julius Randle from Minnesota acknowledged Denver’s determination, saying, “They have championship DNA.” The upcoming Game 6 in Minnesota is pivotal.
Unfortunately for the Timberwolves, they will miss All-Star Anthony Edwards (due to a hamstring injury) along with Donte DiVincenzo (Achilles injury) in the next game. While Minnesota showed resilience in Game 4, they struggled in the last matchup, evidenced by 25 turnovers.
On a positive note, Randle played well with 27 points and nine rebounds. Ayo Dosunmu also contributed with 18 points, but the Timberwolves’ bench was their standout, scoring 48 points collectively. Their shooting was solid at 50%.
If Minnesota can maintain that energy and reduce turnovers, they might seal the series in Game 6. The pressure is on; they certainly don’t want to head back to Denver for a Game 7.
Historically, the Nuggets are familiar with comeback stories. In the 2020 playoffs, they became the first team to rally from a 3-1 deficit twice in a single postseason. This adds an extra layer of tension as the Timberwolves prepare for the next challenge.
