Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 is gearing up for an intense finale that fans won’t want to miss. The second season will wrap up with a special two-hour episode, twice as long as usual, airing on Sunday, April 6, on Paramount+.
While Paramount+ didn’t specify how many episodes season two would have at its announcement, the first season featured eight episodes. All episodes this season are penned by Sheridan himself and directed by Ben Richardson.
The finale, titled “A Dream and A Memory,” comes on the heels of a shocking penultimate episode, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.” In that episode, the action escalates dramatically, resulting in seven character deaths. One member of the Dutton family faced an unexpected fate, while two antagonists met their end in a fitting manner. Tragically, a couple aiding Alexandra Dutton, played by Julia Schlaepfer, succumbed to the elements, leaving her in dire straits heading into the finale.
In the finale, Jacob Dutton, played by Harrison Ford, anxiously waits for Spencer’s return at the train station. Teonna, portrayed by Amina Nieves, faces a turning point, while Alexandra braves the harsh cold. It’s set to be a gripping conclusion that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Notably, 1923 has become a major success for Paramount+. The season two premiere attracted 17 million global viewers, with projections indicating that viewership will surge by 56% compared to season one. This popularity underscores the show’s gripping storytelling and strong performances.
Co-created by Sheridan, 1923 features a stellar cast, including Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, alongside talents like Brandon Sklenar, Jerome Flynn, and Timothy Dalton. Sklenar hinted that the season two finale holds a powerful conclusion, describing it as one of the most beautiful scripts he’s ever read.
As the Yellowstone franchise expands with various spin-offs, including one for fan-favorites Beth and Rip, the fate of the flagship series remains uncertain. With Sheridan at the helm, the future looks promising, but fans are still left wondering if season two will mark the end of 1923.
