Don’t Miss the Exciting Husky Invitational at Alki Beach: A Special Senior Celebration by University of Washington Athletics!

SEATTLE — This weekend, the No. 20 Washington beach volleyball team is excited to host its only home tournament of the 2025 season at Alki Beach. Fans arriving early can snag limited edition posters and rally towels!

The Husky Invitational will showcase some tough competition, featuring teams like No. 9 Long Beach State, No. 19 Florida International, and Oregon.

The action kicks off on Friday at 11 a.m. PT, with the Huskies taking on Long Beach State. Later, at 1:45 p.m., they will face Oregon. On Saturday, the Huskies start their day at 11:15 a.m. against FIU and then have a rematch with Oregon at 2 p.m. They will also celebrate their seniors after the final match.

Last weekend, Long Beach State had a strong showing, winning three out of four matches at the Best in the West Tournament. Washington faced them earlier this season but lost 4-1. FIU also had a solid performance, finishing 3-1. In their opening weekend, the Huskies narrowly lost to the Panthers 3-2. Oregon, on the other hand, comes into the tournament after going 2-0 last weekend.

Recent trends in beach volleyball show a rising interest in the sport, particularly in college competitions. A report from the NCAA indicated that beach volleyball’s participation has grown by over 20% in the past five years, reflecting the sport’s increasing popularity among athletes and fans alike.
