East Idaho’s Heartwarming Holiday Drive: Over 12,000 Pounds of Food Donated to Local Food Banks!

During the recent holiday season, Fall River Electric Cooperative made a big impact by holding food drives at local grocery stores. They managed to collect over 12,000 pounds of non-perishable food, which was donated to several food banks in the area. The recipients included the food bank in Rexburg, the North Fremont Food Pantry in Ashton, the Teton Valley Food Pantry in Driggs, and the social services office in West Yellowstone, Montana.

One special initiative was the second annual Senior Class Food Drive Challenge. Teton High School in Driggs took the top spot by gathering over 7,000 pounds of food for the Teton Valley Food Pantry. The senior class, made up of 146 students, averaged 48.73 pounds each. North Fremont High School finished second, with 45.26 pounds per student. West Yellowstone High School and South Fremont High School also participated, showcasing a strong spirit of competition and community service among the students.

To celebrate their efforts, Fall River Electric CEO Bryan Case awarded Teton High School a $1,000 check and a traveling trophy for their achievement. Additionally, food pantries received $3,140 in cash donations collected from individuals and local businesses, further supporting those in need.
