Eli Roth has been in the film industry for years, but he’s still excited by movies. He wants to share the thrill of a great film with friends, just like he did in school.

When he created The Horror Section, a new movie company, Roth aimed to bring that excitement back. Earlier this year, he made headlines by inviting fans to invest in his company. Around 2,500 people jumped in, pledging from $100 to $1 million.

Roth’s first official project is “Jimmy & Stiggs,” a wild alien horror film directed by Joe Begos. It hit theaters recently, showcasing Begos’ unique style. Known for his indie horror films, Begos created this movie with practical effects that echo the vibes of classic horror.

Ti West, another director, praised Begos’ work, saying it reminded him of early Peter Jackson films, which made Roth interested in adding this title to his roster. It was that same rush he felt as a kid when discovering cult classics. “I was blown away,” Roth says. “It felt like watching ‘Dead Alive’ for the first time.”

To get this film into theaters, Roth partnered with Iconic Events and attended CinemaCon. There, he had discussions with theater owners who were enthusiastic about showcasing a film under his name. Chains like AMC and Alamo wanted to give it a chance.

Roth’s plan isn’t just about releasing movies—he wants to enhance moviegoing experiences. Instead of quick video-on-demand releases, he hopes to keep films in theaters longer. The “Jimmy & Stiggs” screenings will feature unique bonuses, including fake trailers Roth created.

His approach is about more than just business; it’s about building relationships. “Connecting with theater owners is crucial,” he says. “They want to see that you care about their business.” This understanding is part of his mission to give young filmmakers a platform.

Reflecting on his journey, Roth recalls how Quentin Tarantino’s endorsement of “Hostel” helped his career. “It was like being invited to sit at the popular kids’ table. Now, I want to do the same for emerging filmmakers.”

With a passion to see new voices thrive in horror, Roth is dedicated to making memorable experiences for audiences and supporting the next generation of creators.
