Donald Trump recently announced that his administration plans to target the education department and military spending. This was revealed during a news conference at the White House.
In his re-election campaign, Trump promised to cut back on the Department of Education’s reach. Now, it seems that his team is drafting an executive order to shift education control back to the states.
He mentioned working with Elon Musk, saying, “I’ve instructed him to look into Education and the Pentagon. You will find some troubling issues, but they won’t be as severe as what we just uncovered.” This statement emphasizes his commitment to government efficiency.
Currently, about 13% of the federal budget, which amounts to $872 billion, goes towards military spending. Trump’s appointed Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has stated his goal is to ensure the Pentagon undergoes a clean audit within four years. This audit has proven difficult for the Defense Department in the past.
