The California Arts Council has awarded a significant grant to Music in the Mountains (MIM) for its music education programs. This support will continue to enhance the cultural landscape of Nevada County and beyond until September 2025.
Kimberly Ewing, a local arts educator, highlights the importance of MIM’s programs, stating, “They give our kids the chance to enjoy classical music alongside professional musicians. Without MIM, many children might never see a live orchestra.”
In 2025, MIM plans to host concerts for school-aged children featuring their talented musicians and theater artists. These events will help students connect music with other art forms and explore its historical and cultural significance. This exposure is particularly valuable for those lacking access to such cultural experiences.
Thanks to the grant and ongoing community support, MIM will expand its educational offerings this fall. There’s growing enthusiasm among local schools for MIM’s performances, allowing even more students to enjoy high-quality musical experiences.
This grant is part of a larger initiative by the California Arts Council, which awarded over 800 grants totaling nearly $19.5 million to support various nonprofit organizations across the state.
