Today, Manipur’s Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, opened a two-day conference focused on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in higher education at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Senapati. This event is a collaboration with Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan, and it aims to explore how traditional knowledge can shape the future of education in India.
During the conference, Governor Bhalla inaugurated a new smart classroom complex, showing the state’s commitment to merging modern technology with education. He also participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting a Bokul tree on campus and released a souvenir to mark the occasion.
The Governor spoke about the importance of IKS in holistic education, especially with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promoting its revival. He noted that Manipur holds a wealth of indigenous knowledge and that bringing this into mainstream education can help preserve it, benefiting the state’s development.
He emphasized the necessity of documenting traditional practices to leverage their advantages effectively. Furthermore, he encouraged students to take full advantage of IIIT Senapati, saying it could significantly impact their futures by providing essential skills in a tech-driven world.
The event also saw the presence of notable figures like Prof. Sukhi Oraon and Prof. Krishan Baskar, adding to its significance.
