Enhance Your Minecraft Adventure: Discover the Exciting New Flying Mechanic with Happy Ghasts!

Minecraft just added a delightful twist with its upcoming game update—introducing the happy ghast! Imagine a ghast that’s not out to get you, but rather wants to be your companion. This new variant brings a colorful spin to the game, making it more fun than ever.

The happy ghast allows players to experience flight earlier in the game. In the past, players only gained the ability to soar through the skies with elytra wings after reaching the End, a destination that takes a while to reach. But with a happy ghast, even new players can take to the skies just after they explore the Nether.

Players can group up and fly together on a happy ghast, which can hold up to four players at once. This opens up more possibilities for teamwork and exploration.

So, how do you get your own happy ghast? First, you’ll need to find a dried ghast block in the Nether. This block looks like a shriveled version of a ghast and can be mined and taken back to the Overworld. Once there, you need to hydrate it by placing it in water. It takes about 20 real-world minutes for the block to transform into a happy ghastling. This stage is entertaining because, as it hydrates, the dried block goes from having a grumpy face to a joyful one!

The ghastling is a smaller version of the happy ghast and can’t fly just yet. However, if you want to speed things up, you can feed it snowballs. When the ghastling matures, you’ll need to craft a harness using glass, leather, and wool blocks to ride it. Minecraft offers various harness designs based on the wool color you choose, making it visually appealing.

Happy Ghast

Once you’ve got the harness, hopping on the happy ghast is straightforward. The lead player controls the direction while others enjoy the view from above. The speed isn’t quite as fast as flying with elytra, but it’s a scenic journey that doesn’t require using rockets.

The happy ghast isn’t just a means of transportation. It also serves as a great platform for building in the sky. You can detach from the harness and stand on top of the ghast to create structures high above the ground. Many players are excited about using happy ghasts in parkour courses. They can even be secured with a leash or mounted on minecarts, turning them into moving platforms for fun challenges.

As for when you can meet the happy ghast, there’s no official release date yet for the update. Alongside the happy ghast, new features like the player locator bar will be introduced, which helps players find each other more easily. Additionally, updates from the first game drop of 2025 promise new animal variants and plant blocks, which will add more depth to the gameplay.

The introduction of the happy ghast represents a shift in Minecraft’s engaging and friendly gameplay style. According to recent surveys, over 70% of players appreciate new features that enhance cooperative play and exploration. As players share their experiences on social media, the excitement builds, showing just how much this community thrives on innovative ideas. Minecraft continues to evolve, and every update brings fresh adventures!
