Enhancing Storytelling: UTSA’s College of Education Unveils New Tools to Showcase Leadership and Growth

UTSA is reaching out for your input! The university wants to enhance its main storytelling resources. To do this, it’s launching two surveys aimed at students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community. The surveys are designed to gather opinions on UTSA Today and Sombrilla Magazine. They took off today and will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

UTSA Today is the university’s official news source, drawing in 1.1 million visits annually. It isn’t just an ordinary news channel; it helps build UTSA’s reputation, preserves its history, and fosters pride among students and alumni. The stories highlight UTSA’s commitment to education, research, and community involvement.

On the other hand, Sombrilla Magazine serves as UTSA’s main magazine. Available both in print and digital formats, it showcases engaging stories that connect alumni and the wider Roadrunner community with the university. The magazine distributes around 100,000 copies for free each year.

Joe Izbrand, UTSA’s chief communications officer, emphasizes the importance of these channels. He believes they play a key role in shaping UTSA’s narrative. They tell the stories of students and alumni whose lives have been transformed by their time at UTSA and highlight the innovators pushing boundaries in academia.

To encourage participation, UTSA is holding a giveaway. One hundred lucky survey respondents will win exclusive 2025 UTSA Fiesta medals. This is a fun way to recognize everyone’s valuable feedback.
