Exciting Announcement: Meet the 2025-2026 HASI Foundation Climate Solutions Scholarship Winners!

The Institute for the Environment and Sustainability (IES) has revealed the recipients of the HASI Foundation Climate Solutions Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year.

This scholarship, launched in 2021 with the HASI Foundation, supports junior and senior students studying climate action and sustainability. The five senior recipients for 2025-2026 are:

  • Althaea Adams-Van Schaik, Botany major and Sustainability co-major
  • Samantha Besel, Zoology major and Environmental Science co-major
  • Britain Kandel, Environmental Earth Science major and Environmental Science co-major
  • Sara McGinnis, Physics major and Environmental Science co-major
  • April Sanders, double major in Geology and Geography & Sustainable Development, plus an Environmental Science co-major

The HASI Foundation Climate Solutions Scholarship offers financial aid to high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds who focus on sustainability. Recipients are also encouraged to connect with mentors at HASI, providing valuable networking opportunities.

Amanda Bentley Brymer, the assistant director of IES, highlighted the significance of this support: “Thanks to HASI’s generosity, these scholarships are among the largest we can offer, giving students the financial freedom to pursue projects and explore their career interests.”

To be eligible for renewable scholarships, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 and make satisfactory progress in their degree programs. This program has seen a growing interest, with a recent survey showing that over 60% of students in environmental programs express a desire for more financial support in their studies.
