ATLANTA, Ga. — Soccer fans heading to Atlanta for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have reason to celebrate. They can enjoy a vibrant mix of local cuisine through a new initiative called “Global Grub Alley.”
This food truck hub will transform Walton Street into a pedestrian-friendly fest, running between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Broad Street. It will be open on match days and the day before each game, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Expect to see 20 to 30 food trucks daily, adding to the festive atmosphere just steps away from the FIFA Fan Festival at Centennial Olympic Park.
Brandon Pena from the Food Truck Association of Georgia describes it perfectly: “You can sample a variety of foods in one place without wandering around.”
Local resident Lania Grant is thrilled about the idea. “I live right near Centennial Olympic Park! This is amazing!” she said.
City leaders aim to link soccer fans from across the globe with Atlanta’s rich food scene, creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs. Atlanta will host eight World Cup matches, which means Global Grub Alley will be bustling for 16 days throughout the tournament.
Food truck operators, like Amari Pemberton, believe this event can put their businesses on the map. “This is a chance for lasting exposure. We’re ready for the global spotlight,” she shared.
The Food Truck Association of Georgia is managing vendor activities for this event. As Pena puts it, “There may be one World Cup champion, but everyone here is a winner.”
