ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood Softball team faced a tough day in their home tournament, finishing with two 4-1 losses against Indiana State and Valparaiso.
In the first game, the Lions started strong but ultimately fell short. They only managed to score one run, thanks to Emily Geary, who drove in Madisen Noll after a series of walks. But despite some solid pitching from Ryleigh Owens, who kept the Sycamores scoreless for most of the game, the Lions could not capitalize on their chances. Indiana State took control in the seventh inning, scoring three crucial runs to seal the game.
The second match mirrored the first. Valparaiso took an early lead with a sacrifice fly. Although Ava Risum, the freshman pitcher, held her ground for a while, the Beacons’ offense proved too strong. The Lions fought back with a run from Madisen Noll, but Valparaiso responded and closed the game with two additional scores.
The team’s hitting has been underwhelming, with only eight hits across both games. Karter Skillman stood out, hitting successfully in both matches.
As the Lions prepare for their next game against Green Bay, they are eager to turn things around.
