University of Montevallo Appoints Scarlet Thompson as New Foundation Director
The University of Montevallo has exciting news! Scarlet Thompson is the new executive director of the University of Montevallo Foundation, starting August 1. The foundation plays a vital role in supporting the university by managing donations and funding.
Scarlet has a strong background in nonprofit leadership, with almost 20 years of experience in the Birmingham area. Before joining the University of Montevallo, she was the executive vice president of Civitan International for seven years. Scarlet has also worked with The Arc of Central Alabama, the American Cancer Society, and Glenwood, focusing on development and marketing efforts.
In her own words, Scarlet shared, “I am thrilled to be at the University of Montevallo. My mom is an alum, and this institution influenced her career as an elementary school teacher. I look forward to enhancing student experiences and building on Montevallo’s strong legacy of providing a quality, affordable liberal arts education.”
Scarlet’s career is impressive. She spent ten years in television news, holding producer roles at major Birmingham stations. She has won multiple awards, including three regional Emmys and a national Public Relations Society award for her breast cancer advocacy.
