Exciting New Talent: UTA Flag Football Introduces First Signees Under Coach Nguyen!

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Exciting news! Coach Melinda Nguyen has announced the first signings for UT Arlington’s new women’s flag football team. This marks a significant step as they prepare for their inaugural season.

Alexis Eley, a 5’4″ quarterback from Mesa, Arizona, recently wrapped up a standout career at Highland High School. She was honored as the 2024 Fiesta Bowl Player of the Year and earned multiple All-Star nods. Alexis threw for over 7,300 yards and 90 touchdowns while rushing for 1,786 yards and 22 touchdowns, making her one of the top players in her state. Besides football, she also played softball and aims to major in nursing at UTA.

Stella Hang is another dynamic player. Standing at 5’5″ and hailing from Portland, Maine, she has a strong competitive edge, having won several championships in girls’ flag football. Stella was recognized multiple times for her contributions on the field and plans to pursue civil engineering at UTA.

Alanna Espiritu comes from Ashburn, Virginia. After playing with the University of Vermont’s club team, she has a solid background, having contributed significantly to her high school team and the Loudoun Legends travel team. Alanna intends to study exercise science at UTA.

Tamia Duddley, a 5’6″ player from Atlanta, Georgia, also joins the team. Tamia had an impressive high school career, snagging numerous interceptions and earning recognition as a scholar-athlete. She plans to major in biochemistry.

Ella Rieben, 5’6″ and from Littleton, Colorado, brings her talent as both a quarterback and punter. She was named Player of the Year at her high school and achieved notable stats in both roles. Ella is also a talented soccer player, recognized for excellence on the field.

The addition of these players indicates a bright future for UT Arlington’s team as they aim to compete at a high level.
