Join the Fight Against Hunger: The ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ Food Drive on May 9 – Look Out for Your Blue Bag!

Get ready to help your neighbors! The annual Letter Carriers Food Drive is just around the corner. It’s an easy way to make a difference. Look out for a blue bag in your mailbox before Saturday, May 9. Fill it with non-perishable food items and leave it by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will collect it and deliver it to Food for People, which distributes the food to local pantries.

This year, more families and seniors are reaching out for help due to rising food prices. In fact, a recent report showed that 26% of families in our community are facing food insecurity. Every donation you make is vital in ensuring that everyone has enough to eat.

Some of the most needed items include canned fish, meats, soups, stews, and fruits or vegetables. Just a quick reminder: please don’t donate homemade items or food in glass containers. If you miss the food drive, you can still help! Drop off your donation at Food for People in Eureka at 307 W. 14th St., Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM.

For more details about local food pantries and their hours, check out Food for People’s Pantry Network. You can also support the cause through financial donations at Food for People’s donation page.

Let’s come together and show our community that we care. Every can counts!
