Houston Athletics Promotes Tatjana Bajeglav
The University of Houston has officially promoted Tatjana Bajeglav to Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services. This decision comes from Eddie Nuñez, the Vice President for Athletics, who recognizes her hard work and dedication.
Tatjana has been with the university since 2011. She started as an academic learning specialist and quickly moved up the ranks. By 2016, she became the assistant director for the Academic Center for Excellence. In December 2025, she stepped up as Interim Associate Athletics Director, where she made significant improvements in academic performance.
Under her interim leadership, the university achieved an impressive 55 Fall Academic All-Big 12 honors and maintained a 3.0+ term GPA for six straight semesters. Additionally, Houston recorded its second consecutive school record in the Academic Progress Rate with a score of 992. This achievement speaks volumes about the commitment to academics at the university.
Nuñez expressed his confidence in Tatjana, stating, “She laid the foundation of the Academic Center for Excellence and deserves this role.”
As the Associate Athletics Director, she will lead a team of academic advisors and tutors, helping student-athletes balance their studies and sports. Tatjana works closely with the football program, offering guidance on academic programs and degree plans.
Originally from Toronto, Tatjana was a four-year letterwinner in swimming and diving while at Houston. She was also an active leader, serving as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The rise of women in leadership roles in college athletics has become a topic of conversation recently. According to a 2022 NCAA report, only about 30% of athletic departments are led by women. Tatjana’s promotion is a positive step towards increasing female representation in these positions.
With her extensive experience and commitment, Tatjana Bajeglav is poised to make a lasting impact on the academic success of student-athletes at the University of Houston.
