Marshall is a 6-foot, 190-pound junior from Eastvale, California. He had a strong season with 41 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. His contributions helped the Huskers rank second in the nation in passing defense, allowing just 141.1 yards per game.
As the team moves forward, they recognize the need to strengthen against the run. Last season, they ranked 94th, allowing 171.2 yards per game. This issue will be a focus for Aurich in the upcoming year.
As Nebraska prepares for the Las Vegas Bowl against Utah, Marshall reflects on improving his game. He credits fellow Californian teammate Ceyair Wright for helping him grow this season. “It’s been an ongoing thing,” he said of learning from Wright. Marshall wants to go from being a solid player to dominating the field.
“This season is my first in the Big Ten after two years at FCS Idaho,” he noted. “I feel I’ve had a good season, but I can play even better.” Marshall is set on building off his performance as he aims for higher levels of success and physicality in the future.
Looking ahead, the challenge is clear. Utah’s second-ranked rushing offense will be tough. They have a history of dominant run games, with their quarterbacks known for their rushing abilities. “That’s going to be our focus in practice,” Marshall said. “We need to be ready for the challenge.”
Marshall wasn’t shy about discussing the Huskers’ setbacks against Penn State and Iowa. “Physicality was a major issue in those games,” he reflected. The team is keen to address this in future battles.
