Exclusive: Russia’s Intelligence Sharing with Iran Reveals U.S. Military Positions, Sources Disclose

Russia is reportedly sharing intelligence with Iran about U.S. military positions in the Middle East. This information comes during joint military operations involving the U.S. and Israel. A senior U.S. official confirmed this to CBS News.

It’s the first clear sign that Russia, a significant U.S. rival, is aiding Iran in some capacity. The Washington Post was the first to report this intelligence-sharing. When asked about Russia’s actions, the White House emphasized that the “Iranian regime is being absolutely crushed.” According to White House spokesperson Anna Kelly, Iran’s missile strikes are declining, their naval capabilities are diminishing, and their production capacity is suffering. She stated that the U.S. is achieving its goals in this operation.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth assured CBS News that the U.S. is aware of communications happening with Iran and that any potential threats are being addressed. He stated, “We’re putting the other guys in danger, and that’s our job,” reassuring that U.S. personnel are not at risk.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, when questioned about the intelligence sharing, noted she couldn’t comment on leaked reports. However, she asserted that Russia’s actions aren’t impacting military operations in Iran, where the U.S. continues to gain ground.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov acknowledged ongoing discussions with Iran but offered no details regarding the intelligence reports. The CIA also refrained from commenting on the matter.

The collaboration between Russia and Iran has intensified since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Iran has provided drones to Russia that target Ukrainian cities. In a recent post, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared that the U.S. had sought Ukraine’s assistance in defending Gulf countries from possible Iranian drone strikes.

Since the beginning of the military offensive known as Operation Epic Fury, six U.S. soldiers have lost their lives, highlighting the conflict’s human cost. These soldiers were part of a reserve unit based in Iowa and were killed by an Iranian strike on a U.S. operations center in Kuwait. President Trump is expected to honor their sacrifices upon their return to the U.S.

As we examine this unfolding situation, it’s essential to consider the regional implications. Expert analysts suggest that a shifting balance of power in the Middle East could influence U.S. foreign policy in the years to come. Understanding these dynamics becomes crucial as international relations continue to evolve.
