To kick off a thrilling week at CinemaCon, Sony Pictures unveiled new teaser posters for the summer blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Though Tom Holland couldn’t be there in person, he appeared as a hologram, describing his fourth solo adventure as “big, fun, and cool.” He added that it’s also the most emotional Spider-Man story so far. Sony Chairman Tom Rothman praised the film, stating it is “as big as anything we’ve ever made,” yet maintains a unique feel. He emphasized Holland’s performance as his best yet.
During the presentation, Sony previewed a scene that continues from the trailer. It features Peter Parker, played by Holland, reconnecting with MJ, portrayed by Zendaya, and Ned, played by Jacob Batalon.
According to Deadline, the scene shows Peter following Ned into a convenience store where Ned doesn’t recognize him. Ned chats about trying to figure out who Spider-Man is, unaware he’s speaking to his secret identity. The emotional moment unfolds as MJ enters, and Peter introduces himself as a neighbor, while MJ reveals she’s unhappy with her job and feels like she’s “waiting for something great.”
The Wrap shared that the footage highlights Peter’s feelings of longing. At one point, a new character flirts with MJ, and Peter, feeling rejected, storms out. The scene sets the tone for both drama and humor that fans expect from Spider-Man.
Peter has matured since the last movie. He’s now fighting crime alone in a city that has forgotten him. This change brings new challenges, emphasizing a physical evolution that threatens his existence. Each experience shapes him into a more complete Spider-Man.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Mark Ruffalo, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers penning the script.
As excitement builds, audiences are eager to see how this new chapter unfolds. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31!
