Bill Blagg has been captivating audiences for over twenty years. This March 2, he will perform at Kutztown University’s Schaeffer Auditorium at 2 p.m. as part of the KU Presents Family Series.

Tickets for his show, “Family Magic,” are $20 and available for everyone. You can buy them through the KU Presents website or by calling the Box Office at 610-683-4092. KU Presents aims to enrich the cultural life at Kutztown University by showcasing top-notch live performances.
Blagg’s “Family Magic” show is designed to entertain audiences of all ages. As a father of two young children, he felt there weren’t enough family-friendly shows that were also affordable. His performance lasts about 75 minutes without an intermission and includes a variety of illusions, mentalism, and even a dancing handkerchief, all with lots of audience participation.
Born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Blagg’s love for magic started at age 7 when he received a magic set from his grandparents. He was thrilled to make a quarter disappear and created a lifelong passion for magic, which he shared in letters with his great-grandfather, an amateur magician. On his 10th birthday, his great-grandfather gifted him the first few volumes of “Course in Magic,” a classic magic book that guided him on his magical journey.
These books not only included tricks but also lessons on how to perform, the art of misdirection, and what makes a captivating act. This knowledge was pivotal in shaping Blagg’s career. He often shares this story during his performances and showcases a trick he took 18 years to perfect.
His family was supportive of his dream, even though no one had pursued a career in entertainment before him. Blagg started performing for classmates with simple tricks and later had his first paid gig at a local park at age 14. As he grew, so did his shows, leading to larger events and his first ticketed show at 20.
Now, Blagg tours with multiple shows, including two specifically designed for children, “The Science of Magic” and “Magic and Motion.” These shows come with study guides and are meant to be both educational and entertaining. He performs “Family Magic” on weekends and a grand show, “The Magic of Bill Blagg,” on select weekends.
Blagg is looking forward to his upcoming performance in Kutztown. He describes his show as clean, fun, and suitable for everyone. It’s a great opportunity for families and couples to experience live magic together.
