Experience the Future: Travel from Jaipur to Delhi in Just 3 Hours on India’s Longest Hyperloop Track – Discover the Amazing Speed!

New Delhi: India is gearing up to build the world’s longest hyperloop test facility, which could greatly enhance the country’s railway infrastructure. This new system aims to reach speeds of up to 1,100 kilometers per hour, much faster than traditional trains. Recently, Indian Railways successfully finished a 422-meter test track in December 2024.

A senior official shared insights with ET Now, saying, “Plans are underway for a 40–50-kilometer hyperloop test track in India, aided by Indian Railways.”

What is Hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a cutting-edge transport system where trains travel at high speeds inside special vacuum tubes. It’s designed to offer passengers quick and safe travel. With speeds up to 1,100 km/h, hyperloop is set to outperform bullet trains, which top out at around 450 km/h. This innovative technology represents a new era in high-speed mass transit, focusing on efficiency and lower costs.

The recent 422-meter vacuum tube testing facility was created through a partnership involving Indian Railways, L&T Constructions, and Avishkar Hyperloop at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.

TuTr Hyperloop, a technology startup from IIT Madras, recently achieved India’s first commercial test run of a hyperloop pod. Working closely with Indian Railways, this venture aims to speed up the development of hyperloop technology. Additionally, they plan to collaborate on creating a vertical take-off and landing vehicle, thanks to funding from Indian Railways.

The potential of hyperloop in India looks promising. Denis Tudor, CEO of Swisspod Technologies, noted that the estimated cost for a 40-kilometer test track would range between $150–300 million, depending on project specifics.

This exciting venture began when Tudor’s Swiss-American company joined forces with TuTr in March 2022. Both the Swiss and Indian governments support this initiative. Notably, Swisspod has backing from Elon Musk, who provides advice to the U.S. President.
