The streets of downtown Lodi buzzed with excitement Thursday night as the Lodi Certified Farmers Market launched its 2025 season. This weekly market, running from May 15 to August 28, draws locals and visitors alike for a taste of community and fresh offerings.
From 5 to 8 p.m. every Thursday, attendees can enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, and handcrafted goods. The vibe is lively, featuring hot food, drinks, and music in the beer and cider garden on School Street.
Regular visitor Jessica Strootman shared her thoughts: “I’m celebrating my birthday here, but we come for the small-town feel. It’s a great way to see people we don’t normally run into during the week.” This sentiment reflects why many choose to attend. It’s about more than just shopping; it’s a chance to reconnect with friends and neighbors.
Local vendor Dean Duivenvoorden of Dying Breed Brewing also sees value in this gathering. “Everyone’s been super friendly. It’s a chance to meet people and showcase what we create,” he said. Markets like this can help small businesses thrive, especially in today’s economy where community support is crucial.
The event emphasizes the importance of supporting local agriculture. According to a recent survey by the USDA, farmers’ markets have grown in popularity, showing a 50% increase in participation over the last decade. This highlights a trend where communities value fresh, locally sourced produce and goods.
Attendee Troy Amaite noted, “Events like this remind us how important it is to support our neighbors. It brings people together and gives back to the growers and small businesses that keep this town going.”
As this season unfolds, the Lodi Certified Farmers Market continues to be a vibrant platform for local vendors and a cherished space for community connection. With over 65 vendors slated for this summer, it’s set to be a bustling hub every Thursday night, celebrating the heart of Lodi.
