Experience the World: Global Fest Returns to Aurora with Delicious Food, Vibrant Music, and Rich Cultures

Aurora’s Global Fest is back and it’s set to be a big celebration of cultures from around the world. This year, it kicks off earlier than usual, bringing a vibrant mix of food, music, crafts, and traditions to life on June 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Aurora Municipal Center Great Lawn.

This 12th annual event promises a feast for the senses. Visitors can enjoy African clothing, handicrafts from the Marshall Islands, and a delicious array of international foods. Local flavors will shine through Filipino, Indian, and Panamanian dishes, while a tribute to the late Tejano star Selena will add a special touch to the day.

According to Ricardo Gambetta, Aurora’s manager of International and Immigrant Affairs, “This is a chance to explore the world right here in our city.” Mayor Mike Coffman echoes this sentiment, stating Global Fest is vital for showcasing the diverse culture that makes Aurora unique.

With around 20 food trucks and more than 60 vendors offering crafts and toys, the festival is designed for the whole family. One highlight is the Parade of Nations, where different cultures will be celebrated through colorful displays. There will also be an international fashion show and live performances, featuring dance, music, and martial arts.

Every year, the city seeks community input to enhance the experience. New this year are inflatable bounce houses and soccer skills challenges for the kids. There will even be a Selena look-alike contest for all ages! This tribute aims to honor the legacy of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, encouraging participation across different age groups.

Research shows that multicultural events like Global Fest can significantly strengthen community bonds. A report from the National Endowment for the Arts highlights that such gatherings foster inclusion and understanding among diverse groups. This year’s event is not just a celebration; it’s a chance for Aurora’s residents to connect and appreciate the cultures that call the city home.
