The 2025 FIS Freeride World Tour kicked off with a thrilling event at the Baqueira Beret Pro, where legends and new talents showcased their skills on the stunning La Bamba face. Situated in the Spanish Pyrenees, Baqueira Beret is known for its exceptional skiing terrain. The introduction of La Bamba has taken the resort’s reputation for freeriding to a whole new level.
La Bamba, named after renowned freerider Aymar Navarro, features a mix of steep drops, exciting couloirs, and natural jumps. At 2,541 meters high, this venue presents a serious challenge for riders with its average gradient of 40% and sections reaching as steep as 53°. The combination of challenging snow conditions and exhilarating landscape made it a perfect stage for the athletes.
In the Snowboard Men category, French rider Victor de Le Rue stole the show, winning with a sensational score of 83.33 points. As a three-time FWT Champion, De Le Rue showcased his skills with a fantastic backflip over a wind lip, displaying both creativity and technical prowess.
Timm Schröder from Germany finished strong in second place with 77.33 points. His run featured a dramatic backflip and impressive riding through steep sections, earning him high praise. Canada’s Jonathan Penfield secured third with 72.67 points, thanks to his smooth 360 and expert navigation of the couloir.
