We all need a little guidance now and then, especially when it comes to making plans for the weekend. We want to avoid missing out on fun events, so here’s a plan to keep you busy downtown. Just a quick note: Sunday is for rest and recharge, so we will stick to Friday and Saturday events!
This Thursday, February 6, we’re kicking off the weekend with Dallas-based rapper Ian. He’s back on his “Ian Part 2” tour, performing at the Rialto Theatre. Even though Friday means work for many, a little grogginess will be worth it to see Ian live. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets cost between $25 and $45. You can grab them on Ticketmaster.
What’s exciting is that Ian is making up for missed cities during the first leg of his tour. With hits like “Valedictorian” and his new release “Goodbye Horses,” it’s a great chance to catch him live.
Now, on Friday, February 7, we’ll head over to Hotel Congress, just a short stroll away, for a good cause. The hotel is hosting the “Tucson Loves LA — A Fire Relief Benefit for the Los Angeles Music Community.” From 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., local artists, led by Tucson legend Howe Gelb, will perform. Admission is $20 in advance and $25 at the door, with all proceeds going to MusiCares, which is helping musicians affected by wildfires in Los Angeles. These fires devastated many communities, and every bit helps!
Confirmed performers include artists like Jason Lytle, Brian Lopez, and Gabrielle Pietrangelo, among others. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy live music while supporting a worthy cause.
Finally, let’s wrap up our weekend with some laughs! On Saturday, February 8, comedian Tina Friml is taking the stage at 191 Toole, starting at 8 p.m. Tina, who recently made her late-night debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” uses her experiences to bring humor that is relatable and disarming. She pokes fun at the misconceptions surrounding her disability while inviting the audience into her world.
This show is for adults only, and tickets range from $25 to $30. Remember, she’ll also be performing at the same venue on Friday at 8 p.m.!
So, whether you’re vibing to some live music or laughing it up with Tina, it’s shaping up to be an exciting weekend. Enjoy every moment!
